WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE REST IN THE IRON PORT (1)

One of the most popular resort places in the Kherson region, the Iron Port, came under my revision, where crowds of vacationers come every summer!

Those who have ever been to the Iron Port on vacation must have received a lot of impressions, both good and bad.

The topic “rest in the Iron Port” deserves a full-fledged extensive material, so I have collected all the pros and cons of a holiday on the Black Sea. Believe me, there is something to talk about.

The village of Zhelezny Port is one of the most popular resorts on the Black Sea, which is located in the Golopristansky district in the south of the Kherson region. It is in this place that many vacationers come for the sake of the warm, deep-sea, and entertainment.

What is the infrastructure of the Iron Port, what are the prices for entertainment and hotels, is it best to come there with your family or with a noisy company? I’m telling

Having scoured the entire Internet in search of information about this resort village, you can find different descriptions, and online publications promise us: “You won’t find a better place to spend your summer vacation.”

Having turned on the “Masha – and indignant investigative journalist” mode, I, in all the glory of my subjective opinion, decided to talk about the rest in the Iron Port, since I, as a Kherson resident, quite often had to rest there and watch everything that was happening.

Infrastructure

The visiting card of the Iron Port is a concrete embankment, equipped with entertainment establishments, kiosks, and cafes.

Literally every year, after all, the infrastructure of the village is developing. Everything is oriented for the recreation and entertainment of tourists:

  • coffee;
  • two markets;
  • small stalls;
  • about 300 hotels, boarding houses, recreation centers;
  • medical center;
  • clubs;
  • attractions;
  • aquapark;
  • rental of yachts and catamarans;
  • Skydiving;
  • water skiing;
  • kite surfing;
  • diving center;
  • Luna Park.

Cons – not a single supermarket and lack of ATMs to withdraw cash. There are 2 large banks – “Privatbank” and “Aval” – and a couple of ATMs (the locals will tell you their exact location).

In 2015, China Biga, a festival of street food and music, opened.

Perhaps the only original location on the entire coast where you can sit and chat with friends, pampering yourself with interesting sweets.

In addition, interactive live music evenings are held at Chige-Big in the evenings.

Basically, Zhelezka is famous for its nightlife, and that is why a lot of young people come here to “break away”. A huge selection of nightclubs will not let even the most sophisticated party girl get bored.

Some say that the Iron Port is the “Ukrainian Las Vegas” because of the vibrant nightlife.

Convenience

The work of transport here is very developed. Literally every 10 minutes there are regular buses Kherson-Zhelezny Port (100 UAH). * information is current for 2018

Distance in kilometers to the Iron Port by road:

  • Kyiv – 640 km;
  • Kharkiv – 630 km;
  • Zaporozhye – 430 km;
  • Dnieper – 410 km;
  • Odessa – 296 km;
  • Skadovsk – 90 km;
  • Kherson – 97 km.

The road to the village of Zhelezny Port by car

To get from Kherson to the Iron Port, you need to follow the direction to Alyoshki, then to the Golaya Pristan, and then to the Iron Port.

At this stage, a major overhaul of roads in the tourist direction of the entire Golopristan district is being carried out. Most of it was covered with new linen, but there are also areas with old coatings.

In general, you can get there in comfort.

Culture is a separate issue

In the Iron Port, only the center is very developed – its embankment. Everything that is near it is a continuous province.

For true lovers of chanson and other similar music, many entertainment establishments on the embankment will hospitably open their doors. Of course, drunken representatives of the stronger sex can fall out of them, grappling in a fight, to the song “Certificate in Blood”.

For 2018, it is somehow difficult to call the resort in the Iron Port a family vacation.

But for young people who like to “hang out brightly”, this place is just what you need. But, again, everyone chooses what he likes.

Unfortunately, many resort guests do not have a culture of behavior – this brings a lot of trouble to administrators, staff, and local residents. Most likely, this is exactly the reason why the rest in the Iron Port is inferior to the resorts in Turkey and Bulgaria. Culture!

Purity

Sea holidays on the Black Sea in the village of Iron Port, unfortunately, are not for fans of cleanliness.

It should be noted that in recent years, due to the occupation of Crimea, the number of tourists in the Kherson region has increased significantly.

Officials, in turn, continue to assert that vacationers from all over Ukraine have all the conditions for a comfortable stay.

However, the level of preparation of the coastal regions of the Kherson region is always different and does not always meet the generally accepted standards of beach resorts.

Either this is due to an overabundance of tourists, or it depends on the culture of tourists, but the embankment is very polluted during the season! In addition, there are not as many trash bins on the beach and on the promenade as we would like.

Chaotic infrastructure development or a game of contrasts

The chaotic arrangement of multi-level establishments is striking. You can see a seemingly high-level, by local standards, beautiful hotel, where you can culturally and quietly sit with a cocktail on the pool, and next to it, “Menelik” took root, where they sing “Crazy Empress” at the top of their voices.

Prices

The cost of living, as in other resort areas, directly depends on the location and distance from the coast.

If earlier the resort in ZhP was considered one of the most inexpensive on the Black Sea, now it is almost level in prices (I don’t take Odesa, it’s still more expensive there).

Housing prices in the private sectors in 2018 in the Iron Port by category:

  • “Economy” – 100-200 UAH per person per day;
  • “Standard” and “Comfort” average level – 250-500 per person per day;
  • “Premium” and VIP – from 1000 UAH per person per day.

The average price in hotels for a 2-bed room is 900-1000 UAH per day.

Accordingly, it is cheaper and more peaceful to relax on the outskirts of the village.

As for food prices, on average they are “resort” – 30% higher than in city supermarkets.

The cost of staying in the water park in 2017 was 150 UAH per hour or 300 UAH for the whole day.

Vacationers often complain that there are damages on the slides and dirty water in the pools.

According to the reviews of vacationers in social networks, for the last season one can draw such a conclusion – in some places the prices are too high, and the service does not justify itself.

Does not meet the requested prices as housing and services.

Current prices for hotels in the Iron Port can be viewed on the resort’s website.

Attractions and excursions

For those who do not just want to bask on the sand, there are several good offers in Zhelezka with a trip outside the village, where there is something else to see.

Iron Port – geyser

The geyser in the Iron Port is 15 kilometers away. From the rocks at a depth of 1570 meters, water, unique in its iodine-bromide composition, beats with a temperature of up to 70 ° C degrees. Local residents claim that visiting the source has a positive effect on the treatment of various diseases.

However, many tourists complain about the underdeveloped infrastructure in this place.

To go or not to go to JP – that is the question

Iron Port is a resort that is mainly designed for youth recreation. Entertainment facilities are focused more on active tourists.

Rest in Zhelezka on the Black Sea is different from Skadovsk or Azure. The open sea, which sometimes storms, and a flat coastline with no bays or bays.

Definitely, a seaside holiday in the village of Zhelezny Port has its own characteristics, and they attract masses of tourists from all over Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, and beyond. Given all of the above, we can conclude that, after all, the Iron Port is not a family resort. But it’s still worth visiting!

Choose what you like – and have a good rest! 🙂
